Heavy rains in Delhi and the NCR region have been wreaking havoc over the national capital. So much so that several people in the city spent their Thursday and Friday in traffic jams. While traffic jams have slightly cleared up but there is some bad news coming in from Uttam Nagar in West Delhi.

As per media reports, at least three people have been killed as a house collapsed in the Uttam Nagar area of West Delhi. The cause of this tragic incident is heavy rains during the early morning hours today. The person who has been injured is at present receiving the needed medical attention.

Just about a year ago, an under construction basement had collapsed in the New Friends Colony area injuring five people. An FIR has been lodged against the contractor and a case of negligence has been registered against the owner of the building.

Another building collapse incident has been reported in an area in Safdarjung Enclave in South Delhi. However, the good news is that no loss of life has been reported. At present, some rainfall activity is likely over parts of the national capital.

However, now, the intensity of rains is expected to reduce and only light rainfall in patches will be observed until the weekend. Rains are expected to pick up pace around August 6.
