Rajasthan recorded the hottest day of the season yesterday. Many places over West Rajasthan and a few over East Rajasthan measured the peak temperature of pre-monsoon so far. The prolonged spell of scorching heat with cloud-free sky led to severe heat wave conditions over the border areas of the state.
Barmer was the hottest of all recording 48.1°C, about 6°C above the normal. Also, this is the 1st station breaching 48°C mark this season. Earlier, on 01st May, many stations had recorded their season’s highest. These are now surpassed by the current spell of soaring heat over most parts of the state.
Severe heat wave conditions are expected to continue for the next 3 days. A weak western disturbance will arrive on 16th May 2022. Associated cyclonic circulation will induce small changes in the wind flow, both speed and direction. Temperatures will drop marginally by about 2-3°C. However, no rainfall is expected over the state for the next 5-6 days.
