Light to moderate rains were observed over coastal parts of Odisha around March 11 and 12, leading to pleasant weather. Even the state capital Bhubaneswar received some light rain activity.
Before this rainy episode, Odisha was reeling under dry weather conditions that led temperatures to raise several notches. The reason for hot weather can be credited to the elongated dry spell and absence of any significant weather system. And again, in last 24 hours, mainly dry weather was observed over the state.
As per Skymet Weather, at present, a trough is extending from Sub-Himalayan West Bengal to South Coastal Odisha across Gangetic West Bengal. Also, a cyclonic circulation is expected to develop over Coastal Odisha in next 48 hours.
Because of this, few convective clouds will develop. This would, in turn, pour some rain and thundershowers over the coastal region toward evening hours. Due to these convective clouds, hail with squally winds cannot be ruled out over few places. Similar weather conditions are expected to continue for next 24 to 48 hours.
In the meantime, hot and humid weather is expected to continue over interior Odisha. Besides this, day temperatures may shoot up to 36 degrees Celsius over the state.
