Delhi has been experiencing hot days and pleasant nights for the last couple of days. This generally happens after the withdrawal of Southwest Monsoon, when skies become mostly clear. The coming festive week will remain dry. Day temperatures will remain in mid-thirties, while night temperatures will settle in lower-twenties.
On Sunday, the Safdarjung Observatory recorded 35.1°C as maximum. The highest temperature so far this month was 37.2°C. This October, only 2 days recorded temperatures below 35°C. The all-time highest October temperature of 39.4°C was recorded in 2014.
Afternoon hours might seem hot and uncomfortable. But with the sun going down, temperatures will settle in lower-twenties. On Sunday, the Safdarjung Observatory recorded 21.9°C as minimum. By the last week of October we generally feel a nip in the air as night temperatures come down to about 15°C. The lowest minimum temperature of 13.5°C, in last 10 years, was recorded in the year 2009.
In Delhi, it’s the time of the year when traffic comes to a halt near colonies like Chittaranjan Park, Greater Kailash I and II, Safdarjung Enclave, Kashmere Gate, Ramlila Ground in Central Delhi and some parts of East Delhi. Delhiites will enjoy Durga Puja, Navratri, Dussehra and several food festivals amid pleasant and dry weather conditions for the coming week.
