March 18, 2014 1:21 PM |

The rain and hail experienced on Tuesday morning should not be taken as a possibility of another cold spell in Delhi any more as temperatures are going to remain above normal for the next couple of days at least. According to the latest weather update by Skymet Meteorology Division in India, westerly winds along with consistent surface heating under clear sky conditions are expected to raise the temperatures further in the region during this period.

The maximum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 34.4°C, more than 5°C above normal on Monday. Night was also warm as the minimum recorded on Tuesday morning was 19.4°C, more than four notches above normal. This was due to partly cloudy to cloudy sky under the influence of a Western Disturbance over Jammu & Kashmir. According to the latest weather update by Skymet Meteorology Division in India, day temperatures may rise up to 37°C, while night temperatures may hover around 17°C during the next two days.

Delhi also recorded some rain in the last 24 hours. Between 8:30 am on Monday till 8:30 am on Tuesday, 0.2 mm of rain was recorded in the national capital. Southwest district however, registered 0.7 mm of rain along with hail during the period.

According to the latest weather update by Skymet Meteorology Division in India, the weather in Delhi will remain dry for the next four to five days. Thereafter, a cyclonic circulation in west Rajasthan may again give some in the city on 23rd March.
