March 22, 2016 5:17 PM |

Weather in ChennaiPeople in Chennai have been reeling under high day and night temperatures for the last few days. However, it’s the high levels of humidity that have increased discomfort level.

On one hand, maximum temperatures are settling in high 30s. While on other side, minimum temperature is in mid 20s. Both the temperatures are settling well above the normal range by 3-5 degrees.

Average humidity levels are ranging from 60%-70% during the day time, which even exceeds 80% during nights.

On Monday, Chennai recorded day temperature of 38.3°C that was the second highest day temperature recorded in last 10 years. Highest day maximum in last decade was recorded on March 27, 2006 at 38.8°C.

We are expecting to surpass this figure also as no respite is likely during next coming days. Skymet Weather predicts, temperatures will continue with the rising trend as no rainfall is expected in span of next 4-5 days.

Moreover, rain remains far and few in Chennai during March. Monthly average rainfall for the month is just 4 mm that is very negligible amount to bring any relief.
