Kolkata and the adjoining districts of Gangetic West Bengal are reeling under dry, humid and warm weather conditions for last few days. However, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal including the districts like Cooch Behar, Jalpaiguri, and Siliguri will continue receiving isolate to moderate rain and thundershowers.
The ‘city of joy’ Kolkata will start receiving rain by the 30th of the month. Pre-Monsoon activities will again increase over the regions. According to Skymet weather, a trough is extending from Arunachal Pradesh to Gangetic West Bengal. The southerly and south easterly moist winds are presently persisting over the area.

These weather systems are expected to impact the weather over interior parts of West Bengal and isolated thunder activities are also expected over Kolkata for the next 24 hours. However, these activities may not help in bringing so much relief over the areas. Kolkata and adjoining areas will remain hot and humid.
Meanwhile, after 72 hours activities are likely to increase and a slight drop in temperature is expected.
Pleasant weather is likely over Kolkata and adjoining areas by May 28. Moreover, the approaching rainy spell stands a solid chance to continue over Kolkata and other districts of West Bengal until the arrival of Monsoon, which is anticipated to make an onset over Kolkata in the second week of June.
