Since last few days, the weather conditions over the City of Joy remained dry and humid. To such an extent, that the maximum temperatures have been settling in higher 30s, adding to discomfort.

These weather conditions can be attributed to the absence of any significant weather system over the region that could give some good Monsoon rain and thundershowers.

Now also, according to Skymet Weather, no significant increase in the rain activity is expected over Gangetic West Bengal including Kolkata. However, one or two short spells of rains cannot be ruled out. Thus, overall the weather will remain sultry over the region, but isolated thundershower activities cannot be ruled out.

No change in temperatures is foreseen rather high humidity and warm weather will make the day uncomfortable for the Bongs.

Skymet predicts Monsoon to advance over northern parts of West Bengal in the next 4 to 5 days but during that time as well, Gangetic West Bengal including Kolkata will remain mostly dry with isolated rain activities.

Normal rainfall of Kolkata for the month of June is 300.6 mm, but till date there is no rainfall recorded over the city. So, not much hope is there of Kolkata to cover its monthly average for the month of June.

The city has already witnessed a few good spells of Pre-Monsoon showers during the Month of May. In fact, Cyclone Mora also made the weather conditions quite conducive for more Pre-Monsoon showers over the City of Joy.
