Most parts of Gujarat are experiencing hot and humid weather conditions since June 25. Several places in the state had received heavy to very heavy rain between June 22 and June 24 in the wake of the deep depression, which initially developed as a low pressure area over the North Arabian Sea and gradually intensified to move inland.
According to the data available with Skymet, Veraval recorded 109 mm of rain on June 23, while Rajkot experienced a whopping 167 mm of rain. On June 24 Ahmedabad recorded 130 mm of rain.
But after the weather system (Deep Depression) moved eastwards, towards Madhya Pradesh, the weather went dry in entire Gujarat leading to sultry conditions. Increased temperatures and Humidity raise the discomfort levels in the region.
Gujarat normally receives rain when Monsoon surge is active over West Coast or when any weather system develops over the North Arabian Sea, as was the case from June 22 to June 24.
Now Monsoon over Gujarat is in a weak phase and for the next one week the weather activity will be confined to the foothills of the Himalayas. Therefore, most parts of West and Central India will remain dry.
In other words we can say that no respite is expected in the state from the hot and humid conditions for at least 4 to 5 days.
