Hot and humid days to haunt Mumbai again

Maximum temperatures across Mumbai city have been settling near normal for the last few days. However, mercury is now all set to increase and Mumbaikars will be soon battling hot and humid days.

On Saturday, the entertainment capital of the country recorded day maximum at 33.1°C, which was above normal only by a degree.

According to Skymet Weather, mercury will be now following rising trend, wherein day temperatures would be settling mid 30s. In the next 48-72 hours, mercury may even reach to 38°C, which would almost amount to heatwave like conditions.
Such temperatures in a coastal city make the weather unbearable because the feel like factor is much more than the plains on account of high levels of humidity.

Increase in temperatures can be attributed to the change in wind pattern over the region. Very soon, the warm inland northeasterly winds will start reaching the maximum city.

Several areas of Vidarbha and Marathwada along with neighbouring states of Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat are already reeling under the grip of heatwave conditions.

Further, no respite is seen from hot and humid weather during the next few days. Weathermen predict, as heatwave will tighten its grip over Central and Northwest India, Mumbai would also feel the heat.
