Most parts of South India are witnessing good rains while the state of Gujarat is reeling under dry weather with bright sunny afternoons. Due to this, hot day like conditions are likely to prevail over the region for the coming days as well.
Temperatures over most parts of the state have risen 2-4 degrees Celsius above the normal levels. This has led to extreme discomfort and uneasiness in weather over the state.
In fact, in past 24 hours, Bhuj recorded day maximum at 42°C, Deesa 39°C, Ahmedabad and Surat 38°C, Vadodara and Rajkot 37°C, Bhavnagar, Amreli and Kandla 36°C.
As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, the reason for the sweltering weather over Gujarat can be attributed to the dry winds that are blowing over these areas.

These winds are warm and moist in nature, thus resulting in the day temperatures to rise up. Also, an anti-cyclonic circulation is seen persisting over Gujarat and adjoining areas.
Due to this weather system, the dry and hot weather is likely to continue over Gujarat for the next couple of days.

Moreover, day temperatures are nearing 40 degrees Celsius mark in some parts of Gujarat, Saurashtra and Kutch region.
As per Skymet Weather, the situation is likely to worsen in the coming days due to the absence of any significant weather system over the state.
