Honnavar, Karwar, Ratnagiri, Alapuzzha to settle with good Monsoon rains

The West Coast of India has been observing active to vigorous Monsoon conditions since past 2 to 3 days. The last 24 hours were also of no different and the coastal regions recorded moderate to heavy spells, with isolated very heavy spells.

In a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Saturday, Mangaluru recorded 107 mm of rain, followed by Mahabaleshwar 83 mm, Ratnagiri 82 mm, Honnavar 71 mm, Vengurla 67 mm, Madikeri 57 mm, Harnai 41 mm, Kozhikode 34 mm, Alibag 29 mm, Kannur 27 mm, Karwar 27 mm, Kottayam 16 mm and Alapuzzha 10 mm.

The dazzling city of Maharashtra, Mumbai also ended up recording some really good Monsoon showers in the last 24 hours. The Santacruz Observatory recorded 31 mm of rainfall, while Colaba Observatory witnessed 43 mm of rain.

These rains can be attributed to an active offshore trough which is extending from South Gujarat Coast to Kerala Coast.

Weathermen at Skymet Weather expect heavy to very heavy rains to continue over North Konkan, while moderate to heavy over South Konkan, Coastal Karnataka and Kerala.

With these incessant rains and more in offing, the weather will continue to remain pleasant and breezy along the West Coast. Moreover, temperatures will remain on the lower end.
