At present, most parts of the country are either witnessing or gearing up for heavy Monsoon rains. Hills of North India fall into the latter category.
According to Skymet Weather, heavy to very heavy rains are likely to lash Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand from today. It would be three-day long spell, but both the states would witness some torrential activities during this time.
All thanks to several weather systems that are presently affecting the country, such as the depression which lies over Southwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Rajasthan. Simultaneously, a fresh Western Disturbance is also expected to affect parts of Jammu and Kashmir. Both the systems would then interact with each other through north-south trough from Western Himalayas to West Madhya Pradesh.
Under the influence of the system, we can expect heavy to very heavy rains over several parts of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir. In fact, intensity of rains would be more over Uttarakhand.
With this, threat of cloudburst, landslide and mudslide looms large over the state. Tourists, who are planning to take a trip to these states, are advised to postpone their plans or take necessary precautions..
