Himachal Pradesh witnesses incessant Monsoon rains

Monsoon is one such time when the northern hills of India are considered to be the most vulnerable and life-threatening places. But the degree of intensity of rains varies from state to state. For example, it is Uttarakhand that faces the raw and unrelenting wrath of Monsoon, which is followed by Himachal Pradesh. It is Jammu & Kashmir which remains least vulnerable during Monsoon.

Currently, a Western Disturbance is seen over North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu & Kashmir which is slated to move eastwards and will affect Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.

As of today, Himachal Pradesh is rain deficient by 30%. In the last 24 hours, fairly widespread light to moderate rain with one or two heavy spells have been recorded.

But it is the foothills of the state that have witnessed these good rains. In the last 24 hours, Dharamsala has received a whopping three digit rainfall of 123.2 mm.

Shimla, on the other hand, has recorded 65.2 mm of rainfall. But these rainfall figures are going to increase as more rain is expected over the state.

The Western Disturbance is likely to move away within 24 hours. So it is safe to say that more rainfall is expected for next 24-48 hours. It is only after 48 hours the rainfall is expected to recede.
