Himachal Pradesh, Kashmir and Uttarakhand to continue with rain and snow

The hills of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh as well as Uttarakhand have had a good week in terms of rain and snow. Moreover, the hilly regions have been recording good amounts of rainfall as well as snow activity.

Meanwhile, due to heavy rain and snow in Kashmir region, the Jammu and Srinagar highway which links Kashmir to the rest of the country was blocked. However, after about a day, traffic once again resumed yesterday.

Moreover, higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh as well as Jammu and Kashmir did record some snowfall activity as well.

In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Manali recorded a whopping 46 mm of rains, Banihal 26 mm, Kullu 21 mm, Qazigund 15 mm, Mandi 8 mm, Gulmarg 6 mm, Shimla 6 mm, Srinagar 4 mm, Sundernagar 6 mm, Tehri 6 mm, Dharamasala 3 mm, and Dehradun 2 mm.

These rain and snow activities can be attributed to the Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir and adjoining areas. Along with this, its induced cyclonic circulation is over Haryana and adjoining regions which has caused rain over the lower reaches.

Now, as per weathermen at Skymet Weather, these activities will continue for another 24 hours over eastern parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and some areas of Uttarakhand. However, the weather activity will not be as intense.
