Hills of North India to witness rains during the next 24 hours

December 25, 2018 10:07 AM | Skymet Weather Team

All the three hill stations of North India i.e. Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand have been experiencing dry weather conditions since the last many days. However, isolated patchy rain and snow over the higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh stays unpredictable.

The Western Disturbance over Afghanistan region and adjoining North Pakistan is likely to move over Jammu and Kashmir by December 26.

Therefore, we can say that in wake of the approaching Western Disturbance, light rain with one or two moderate spells may occur over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and isolated extreme higher reaches of Uttarakhand on December 26.

Further, by December 27, we expect the intensity of these rains to reduce significantly and only isolated light rainfall activity will continue over few places over the hills of North India.

By December, 28 weather over the Western Himalayas will start clearing up and weather activities will only remain confined to the higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.

Furthermore, after December 28, we expect another Western Disturbance to approach the Western Himalayas which will be active in nature. Thus, during that time, we expect good rain and snowfall activity to occur over all the three hill stations of North India.
