The hills of North India especially the higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh are experiencing chilly cold weather conditions since the beginning of December. In fact, most places over these states are witnessing minimums in minus.

Yesterday, the minimum temperatures recorded over Srinagar was -5.4˚C, followed by Qazigund -5.6˚C, Manali -1.2˚C, Mandi 0.1˚C, Una 1.2˚C, Dharamshala 2.8˚C and Shimla 5.2˚C.

All these weather conditions are seasonal since mostly feeble Western Disturbances are moving across the northern latitudes of Jammu and Kashmir, due to which only clouding is increasing but no major weather activity is being observed. Though the isolated places over the higher reaches are experiencing short spell of light rain and snow. But rest all parts of hills are dry and very cold.

Presently, a weak Western Disturbance is moving across northern parts of Jammu and Kashmir. Due to which, clouding will occur over most parts of Western Himalayas during the next 24 hours. This system may also affect light rain and snow at isolated places over higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

After moving away, another Western Disturbance will affect January 1 night onwards, which may give light rain and snow over may places over the hills of North India.
