During the last 24 hours, mostly dry weather conditions prevailed over the hilly states of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. At the same time, the sky conditions remained partly cloudy over most parts. One or two higher reaches managed to record light rains and snow.
At present, the minimum temperatures are slightly above normal by one to two degrees while day temperatures are slightly close to normal or below normal.
These weather conditions are occurring due to the influence of a Western Disturbance over North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir. At present, the system has moved away slightly east-northeastwards and lies over northern parts of Jammu and Kashmir. Further, this system would be moving slowly East-northwestwards.
Hence, the sky conditions will remain cloudy to partly cloudy over most higher reaches while southern parts of these states will see a partly cloudy sky. The rainfall activity will be restricted mostly over higher reaches of these states.
Light rains and snow might also occur over one or two higher reaches. At the same time, light rains or thundershowers are likely along the foothills.
Similar weather conditions are likely to continue over the hills until February 25. Thereafter the weather conditions will become mostly dry.
