In northern hilly region of India, like in the states of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttrakhand, the usual weather pattern that follows is when winter gets over by February end but the prolonged effect of it lasts till March.
This is because the region receives a lot of rainfall in February and even more rainfall in March.
But this year, the last week of February and first week of March received light rains. Not the usual significant rains the region experiences but very much less rainfall than the usual.
This shortfall of rains resulted in increased temperatures. In the last 24 hours, with mostly clear sky and sunny weather the temperature shot up by 5 degree Celsius. This spell of increased temperatures will last for at least the next 24 hours.

The variation of temperature in Himachal Pradesh:
In Dehradun, Uttrakhand the maximum temperatures floated around 30 degree Celsius and minimum temperatures were around 13.4 degree Celsius. The variation in maximum temperature that is above normal is 4 degrees Celsius.
The temperatures will see a downfall around March 11 as a strong Western Disturbance is likely to be observed over the region around that time. The hilly region will experience moderate to heavy rainfall. This rainfall will start from March 11 and will increase significantly on March 12, 13 and 14.
Some of the regions will expect hailstorm activity which is always a bad news for the farmers. This weather activity will make the temperatures drop significantly, below the average. But this weather activity will reduce after March 15.
