July is the core Monsoon month during the Southwest Monsoon season for the country. The Pan India average monthly rainfall during the month of July is about 290 mm which accounts for 33% of total Monsoon rains.
So far, the month has observed the typical character of Monsoon in terms of variation of peaks and lows in rain. The first ten days of the month were on a lower side for the country with the rainfall deficiency rising to -9% as of July 10 from -5% in the month of June.
However, after a lull period, rains between July 11 and 17 were fairly good and for the last three to four days, the country has observed 30%-40% of excess rains.
Then came a phase of reduction again and spanning from July 18 until July 20, the overall rainfall again witnessed a declining trend.

However, the last three days again brought some more good rains for the country and between July 21 and 23, the Pan India rainfall deficiency reduced to -2% which is considered to be normal.
On the other hand, if the rainfall performance of the month alone is to be looked, the country’s overall rainfall is on a positive side, standing at 2% surplus.
At present, Monsoon conditions are active over North and Central India and for the next two days, that is spanning from July 23 and 25, we can expect some good Monsoon showers to occur over the country.
During this time, Skymet Weather expects moderate with isolated heavy rains over Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Northern Hills and parts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar (mainly the foothills).
Thereafter, from July 26 to July 28, the rains would once again reduce over most parts of the country barring the foothills, Northern Hills, and Northeast India. However, the month would end on a rainy note as the last two days of July are expected to end with a rise in the rainfall activity almost most parts of the country again.
