Actor Ranveer Singh has named Skymet Weather’s #HelpTheFarmer initiative as the best ad of 2015, while listing down his top 10 favorite ads of the year on ET NOW’s show ‘Brand Equity’.
While speaking to ET NOW, Guest Editor Ranveer Singh revealed that he literally broke down while watching the #HelpTheFarmer video. He also said that he was relieved to see that the video had a happy ending.
In Ranveer’s own words: “The video is gut-wrenching, heart-wrenching in nature. It also carries suspense value and is supported by some very good acting. The ad pushes me to get up and do my bit for the farmers of this country. Such is the power of this initiative.”
Other creative masterpieces like the famous ‘Mauka Mauka’ ad, Ambuja Cement’s Khali ad, and Feviquick’s ‘Todo Nahi Jodo’ were also a part of Ranveer’s top 10 favorite ads of 2015.
Skymet’s initiative #HelpTheFarmer was launched in August, 2015 and was aimed at spreading awareness about farmer suicides in the country. The campaign was a huge success in the digital sphere with the hashtag #HelpTheFarmer trending at No. 1 on Twitter for more than six hours.The campaign video fetched millions of views and was shared and supported by all. The video also fetched the prestigious 'Silver Award' in the 'Cinema of the Sellers' category at the 6th Jagran Film Festival Awards this year.
Skymetweather.com was also voted as the second most popular website under the 'Weather & Traffic' category, second next to Google Maps.
