It is like the weather gods are neglecting this district of Odisha which is burning under severe heatwave conditions during this entire month.

Titlagarh in Odisha recorded highest maximum temperature of 47.5°C in the country in the season so far. The neighboring region of Sundergarh is also feeling the heat where the temperatures are hovering around 46°C.

The reason for the continuous rise in the temperature is the clear sky and no weather activity in the region. The sun insulation is direct and since there is no weather formation makes a steady rise in the temperature point. If this suite goes on for a while then the all-time high of 48.1°C which happened in April of 1999 will be record of passé.

April is apparently the pre monsoon times in the region but the absence of such weather activity is making life difficult. Somewhere around mid-April, the temperature touched its high of 44.5°C and it has been braking its own record ever since. On April 18, the temperature broke its own record by touching 46.3°C. Then on April 21, it touched a new landmark – 46.5°C.

Yesterday also, it touched a new pedestal of 47°C. According to some reports the government authorities have issued that people are to remain inside during 11am to 4pm.

This has made life more difficult as people have to start their day as early as 5am in the morning. The sad reality, which will be hard digest for the people living there, is that there will be no relief in the coming times. No pre-monsoon showers and clear skies are the clear indicators of the sultry weather conditions in the region.
