In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Thursday,  Gaya witnessed heavy rain of 62.6 mm and Chapra 62 mm of rain. In the same span of time, Bhagalpur received 22.8 mm of moderate rain, Patna 21.4 mm and Darbhanga 10 mm of rain. Meanwhile, Purnia and Supaul received the light intensity of rain to the tune of 0.5 mm and 1.6 mm respectively.

These rains can be attributed to the axis of monsoon trough which is running across Patna and the easterly winds from the Bay of Bengal are increasing moisture over the foothills. As per Skymet Weather, it is anticipated that few moderate spells of rain will continue over the foothills of Bihar and at some places over Central Bihar.

These rainfall activities till continue for the next 24 hours. Darbangha, East and West Champaran, Patna and Bhagalpur are likely to witness hefty rains. As a Low-Pressure Area is all set to develop over Odisha, therefore, intensity of rains will reduce significantly over Bihar after 24 hours.

However, the water inflow is continuing from Nepal, therefore, it will take few more days for flood situations to come under control but relief and rescue operations will not be hindered due to weather conditions. Weather is likely to clear up after 24 hours leading to some relief.
