The Southern districts of Gujarat have been receiving heavy to very heavy rains from the past two to three days. Places like Surat, Valsad and adjoining areas recorded hefty rains like Vapi in Valsad on July 7 saw 215 mm of rains.
These torrential rains have helped in bringing down therain deficiency levelsand now the Gujarat region is surplus by two percent. Saurashtra and Kutch have yet not received many showers of rain, only isolated light rains with one or two moderate spells were seen and now this region is left with a deficiency of 47%.
In the past 24 hours,Valsad has recorded 80 mm of rainswhile light to moderate rains was a sight over Vadodara, Bhavnagar, Surat, and Veraval.
The experts have to say that therains would now decrease over Gujarat. Although, light to moderate rains might continue. This will be due to the weakening of off-shore Trough which at present is running from Gujarat to Kerala. Moreover, the Cyclonic Circulation which was persisting since many days over South Gujarat will also get weaken.
