While Mumbai rains had displayed a poor performance during the past few days, Southwest Monsoon finally made an onset over Mumbai on June 20. Also, rains were of lighter intensity during the morning hours, but, good showers picked up pace by the night hours.

The good news is that Monsoon rains that lashed the capital city of Maharashtra were widespread in nature. In fact, along with Central and North Mumbai, South Mumbai and the suburbs including Thane and Panvel also received hefty Monsoon rains.

Heavy monsoon rains were also recorded over the Colaba observatory in Mumbai. In fact, during the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Colaba recorded a whopping 110 mm of rain which is a few millimeters more than that of the Santa Cruz observatory.

So far, until June 21, Colaba observatory has received 171 mm of rain. While rains were in single digits during the first few days, rainfall activity picked up pace on June 19. During the last 48 hours, Colaba has recorded more than 150 mm of rain.

Now, during the next 24 hours, on and off Mumbai rains are expected to continue. Also, the possibility of a few moderate to heavy rains cannot be ruled out. Now, as Mumbai rains have made a comeback, residents can expect comfortable weather conditions.
