Odisha is one of those states that is prone to cyclones and subdued rains both. And Monsoon 2016 is proving to be just right.
At present, the axis of Monsoon trough is passing through Northwest India to Northeast Bay of Bengal across North of Odisha. Another weather system as a cyclonic circulation is over Northeast Bay of Bengal extending up to 3.6kms.
Another cyclonic circulation is over Central Bay of Bengal, now lies over coast of Andhra Pradesh and adjoining west central Bay of Bengal. Under its influence a low pressure area could develop over the area during next 24 hours.
These three weather systems will enhance rainfall activity over Odisha during next 24 to 48 hours. Mainly light to moderate rainfall activity with isolated heavy falls is also expected. Southern coastal and Western parts of Odisha will receive moderate rain at many places.
Mainly overcast sky expected over the most areas of the state. Southerly-Southeasterly winds and drop in temperature likely over the area.
The state has already received light to moderate rain at many places with heavy at isolated places in last 24 hours. Significant rain over was witnessed over Bhawanipatna which received 46 mm of rainfall and Titlagarh which received 45 mm of rains. Bhubaneswar received 22 mm, Paradip 33 mm, Keonjhargarh 30 mm and Chandbali recorded 9 mm of rains.
At present, Odisha has received normal rains but with 14% deficiency. This rainfall is expected to help the state to reach positive figures soon.
