At present, a trough is extending from Uttar Pradesh up to Arunachal Pradesh across Gangetic West Bengal and Bangladesh. Southerly moderate winds are also prevailing over most parts of Bangladesh.

An east-west trough is moving across West Bengal and travelling up to Northeast India across the southern part of Bangladesh. With this, a Cyclonic Circulation in the middle level (3.0km) has formed over central parts of Bangladesh extending up to 7.5 km

According to meteorologists at Skymet, the current weather conditions look favourable for moderate to heavy rains in the region for the next 48-72 hours. Some places may also receive very heavy rains.

Rain and thundershowers accompanied with temporary gusty or squally winds are likely to be observed at most places in Dhaka, Barishal, Khulna, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions.

While a few places in Mymensingh and Rajshahi divisions would witness rain and thundershowers. One or two places of Rangpur division may also witness heavy to very heavy rains. Same intensity rain is likely in places like Dhaka, Barishal, Khulna, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions.
