The fresh Western Disturbance and its induced cyclonic circulation over Rajasthan and adjoining areas brought good amounts of rain and snowfall over entire North India including parts of Rajasthan.
In the span of last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Saturday, Banihal in Jammu and Kashmir received 33.9 mm of precipitation, Batote 34 mm, Bhaderwah 20.4 mm, Gulmarg 14.2 mm, Katara 17.2 mm, Srinagar 9.5 mm, Pahalgam 7.5 mm, Kupwara 9.6 mm, Qazigund 9 mm and Kukernag 7.9 mm of rain and snowfall.
Himachal Pradesh also received scattered rain and snowfall. Chamba received 15 mm of precipitation, Manali 10.2 mm, Shimla 2.6 mm, Kalpa 10 mm and Dharamsala 12.4 mm. In Uttarakhand, Tehri received just 1.4 mm of rainfall.
Clouding persists and the three hilly states of North India will continue to receive rain for next 24 hours but with reduced intensity.
Nevertheless, heavy snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir led to the closure of the Jammu-Srinagar national highway. One-way traffic was restored on Saturday after the 300-km long national highway remained closed for five consecutive days due to heavy snowfall.
Rain in plains of North India
In last 24 hours, the Western Disturbance also brought rainfall in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Rajasthan. The Palam Observatory in Delhi received 19.2 mm of rain. In Haryana, Ambala received 3.2 mm of rain, Karnal 14 mm, Kurukshetra 17 mm and Chandigarh just traces of rain.
Rain is likely towards late evening hours of Sunday as well. Weather is likely to clear out by Monday morning from entire North India.
