Snowy days have been wreaking havoc over the hills of North India. So much so that snowfall was even observed over the holy shrine of Vaishno Devi during the last 48 hours. While the month of December remained mild and dry for the hilly states, January has been compensating with the ongoing rainy and snowy weather.

As per the weathermen at Skymet Weather, more snowy weather conditions are expected during the rest of January. In fact, the coming weekend is also expected to be rainy as well as snowy for the hills including the states of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh along with Uttarakhand.

Hill stations including Shimla, Srinagar, Manali, Pahalgam, Nainital, Gulmarg and Kullu are likely to witness consecutive days of snow. Not only this, the holy shrine of Vaishno Devi is also expected to witness along with rainy and snowy weather in the coming days. A carpet of snow has already been delighting the pilgrims who are currently visiting the shrine.

The aforementioned areas have already been witnessing rains along with snowfall. However, the coming days are expected to observe moderate to heavy snow with isolated very heavy snowfall.

These weather conditions will be attributed to the arrival of back to back Western Disturbances over the Western Himalayas. A fresh Western Disturbance is expected to affect the Western Himalayas January 21 onward. Around January 22, light to moderate snow will be observed.
