After experiencing light weather activities, another round of fresh rain and snow is set to lash the northern hills of the country. The second Western Disturbance (WD) of the month is going to hit the Western Himalayas around February 19.

This system may give rain and snow in many parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand between February 19 and 22. There are also chances of one or two heavy spells in some parts of the region.

Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine stands a chance to observe good rain and snow during this span. Many other popular tourists destination including Kullu, Manali, Shimla, etc may also observe snowfall of good intensity.

Considering the chances of heavy snow in some parts, the tourists are advised to take all the necessary precautions. Intense weather activities might result in landslides/mudslides and avalanches in the prone areas. Widespread rain and snow may lead to disruption of day to day life as the highways or major roads may get blocked.

After February 22, the situation might start improving as the weather activities would taper from Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and western parts of Himachal Pradesh. However, rain and snow may continue in Uttarakhand for some more time.
