The Low-Pressure Area over Lakshadweep and adjoining East Central Arabian Sea has slightly moved west/northwestward.
The system may become more marked during the next 24 to 48 hours. A Trough is extending from this system across the Northern parts of Maharashtra. Due to the Trough, the southern parts of Maharashtra has recorded good rains while the northern districts witnessed scattered light showers.
Since today morning Mumbai is witnessing light rain spells. The significant rain has been seen in Amravati of 27 mm, Satara 10 mm, Solapur 31 mm, Santa Cruz 2 mm, and Ahmadnagar 8 mm, and Ratnagiri 11 mm.
Here our experts foresee that the rainfall activities are likely to increase over Madhya Maharashtra, mainly moderate spells with few heavy showers may be seen over the region.
Konkan is also likely to witness moderate to heavy showers. Moderate spells are also likely over Marathwada with isolated light showers over Vidarbha. All this while Mumbai will see heavy spells. Tomorrow afternoon, there will be a marginal drop in rainfall activities in Mumbai. Pune, Sangli, Satara will see hefty showers with moderate spells to be seen over Nashik, Aurangabad during the next 24 hours. However, light rains will be witnessed in Nagpur.
Activity is likely to reduce after 24 hours. However, moderate spells will continue over many parts of South Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and adjoining areas for the next two to three days.
