Heavy showers in Honavar, Mangaluru Karwar; light Bengaluru rains expected

Coastal Karnataka has been witnessing good rains for the past few days. In fact, North Interior Karnataka also saw moderate rainfall activity during the last 24 hours while heavy rains were witnessed over the coastal areas.

During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Wednesday, Agumbe recorded a whopping 160 mm of rains, Madikeri 88 mm, Honavar recorded a good 45 mm of rains, Mangaluru 38 mm, Belagavi 5.7 mm, Bengaluru 4.2 mm, Chitradurga 7.2 mm, Kalabhurgi 2.1 mm, Karwar 25 mm, Mandya 5.9 mm, and Mysuru 8 mm.

The off shore trough is extending from Kerala to Karnataka which has resulted in good rains over the coastal parts of Karnataka. A cyclonic circulation is also seen at mid levels over South Coastal Karnataka and adjoining Interior Karnataka which has resulted in rains over the interior parts.

Now, moderate to heavy showers will persist over Coastal Karnataka. Meanwhile, few parts of North Interior Karnataka may receive light to moderate rains. Meanwhile, Monsoon over South Interior Karnataka will remain subdued.

Talking about Bengaluru, the city may receive light rains only and spells of good rains are not expected. On the other hand, Honavar, Mangaluru, and Karwar will see good rains. Rains will remain between light to moderate over Dharwad, and Gulbarga.
