Bihar and Uttar Pradesh have been mainly dry in the last 24 hours. Few pockets of Bihar that have received light rainfall include Gaya which recorded 4 mm rainfall and Patna recorded 0.7 mm.
Few districts of Uttar Pradesh that have witnessed fair amount of rain is Moradabad which recorded rainy spells of 6.4 mm and Hardoi recorded 4.5 mm showers.
At present a cyclonic circulation is marked over Bihar and Sub Himalayan West Bengal. Another cyclonic circulation is over north Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. A trough is also extending from this system towards West Bengal across the foothills of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. A feeble cyclonic circulation is also marked over East Uttar Pradesh.
In wake of these systems, weather conditions are favourable for both the states of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. Initially the rain belt will cover most parts of Bihar and foothills of Uttar Pradesh. Gradually, rains are expected to intensify covering pockets of East Uttar Pradesh including Gorakhpur, Allahabad, and Varanasi.
As per Skymet Weather, these rainy spells are likely to continue for another 3 to 4 days. Although the speed and intensity of these showers will be more over Bihar as compared to Uttar Pradesh.
However, West and Central Uttar Pradesh will witness scattered dust storm and thundershowers. These pre Monsoon activities will gradually intensify on June 22 or June 23. The normal arrival of Monsoon in East Bihar is from June 10 covering entire Bihar by June 15. Though it is a possibility that Monsoon will be declared over Bihar by 20th June to 22nd June.
As the Monsoon this year is already suffering a lag and has reached the southern region of the peninsula with a delay.
Hence it can be concluded that the rainy spells in the month of June will remain deficit. However due to high intensity of rains in mid-July over Uttar Pradesh, these rains are predicted to cover up the deficit fall.
