Heavy rains to make a comeback in Delhi-NCR

August 5, 2016 12:51 PM |

Delhi Rains 1

In the last week of July fairly widespread rains occurred over Delhi which brought much-needed relief from the heat and humidity. Due to those rains, Delhi is now enjoying surplus rainfall of 8%.

But now since last 2-3 days, hot and uneasy conditions are prevailing over the national capital and surrounding regions. This was due to the shifting of rain belt to south of Delhi towards Central and East India.

As of now multiple weather systems have developed over south of Delhi that have sucked weather activity towards it and has made it confined to Central India only. A low-pressure area over Northwest Bay of Bengal and a cyclonic circulation over Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Rajasthan persists.

Now we expect that the axis of Monsoon trough will shift towards North and a Western Disturbance will also start affecting Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir and hilly states of North India.

We expect rain to commence over Delhi and NCR from tomorrow onwards. Though these rains will be patchy and the intensity will be light at first. But gradually this rain intensity will pick up pace and many areas of Delhi & nearby areas will receive good rain & thundershowers.

So we can say that many areas of North India including Delhi will continue to get on & off rains from next 3-4 days. All in all the next week is going to be a rainy week for Delhi and NCR.

Weather will become pleasant but traffic snarls and water logging will be on the cards.
