Heavy rains continued to lash several parts of Gujarat on Saturday with Valsad, Deesa, Baroda, Amreli and Ahmedabad districts receiving most of the rainfall.
Due to these incessant rains in Gujarat, it has led to floods that wrecked havoc in many parts of this state wherein two persons were killed. More than 200 people were stuck in floods, forcing the Indian Army, Indian Air Force and NDRF to follow the rescue mission.
Since the span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Ahmedabad recorded 109.2 mm of rainfall, Deesa 97.6 mm, Baroda 80.2 mm, Amreli 62.6 mm, Rajkot 57.2 mm, Surat 30.6 mm, Idar 22.5 mm, Bhavnagar 6.4 mm, Veraval 4.6 mm, Bhuj 2.6 mm, Kandla 2.4 mm, Porbandar 2 mm and Okha 0.7 mm.
In fact, Surendranagar, Rajkot and Jamanagar districts of Saurashtra were hit by rains over the week, leading to flood like situation in many areas. Meanwhile, major roads of the city were also flooded leading to a traffic jam on Saturday.

These weather conditions can be attributed to the presence of a low pressure area over Southeast Rajasthan and adjoining areas. Also, an off shore trough is seen persisting along the West Coast from South Gujarat coast up to Kerala. Due to these weather systems, moisture incursion is likely to build up in a cloud formation and rains.

As per Skymet Weather, during the next 24 hours, the eastern districts of Gujarat may continue to receive moderate to heavy showers along with few isolated very heavy spells may occur at several places over Amreli, Veraval, Valsad, Deesa, Idar, Ahmedabad and Rajkot. Due to this, flood like conditions are expected to persist over the region for some more time.
Whereas, western districts of Gujarat including Saurashtra and Kutch region is likely to record light to moderate showers especially in places over Bhuj and Naliya during the next 24 hours.
