However, rains would increase substantially May 23 onwards. According to weathermen, we can expect moderate rains with some heavy spells over many parts of the region. These showers would also be accompanied by thunderstorms, high-velocity winds, and lightning strikes.

Further, these activities are not expected to stop anytime soon and would continue till the onset of Monsoon, which is most likely by May 28. In fact, May 26 onwards, we can expect heavy to very rains to lash Nagaland.

This would be the first heavy spell of the season to lash Nagaland. With this, threat of landslides, road blockage, and some flooding looms large over the state.

According to Skymet Weather, these showers can be considered as the precursor to the Monsoon and some heavy showers are likely across Nagaland before the arrival of the four-month-long season.

The intensity of rains would be more over northern parts of the state such as Longleng, Tizit, and Mon that may see some very heavy spells. Meanwhile, other places such as Kiphire, Wokha, Bhandari, Mokokchung, Tuensang, Peren, Dimapur, Kohima, Phek, and Zunheboto.
