Since last few days, the weather of Assam was almost dry with the light patchy showers. Dry easterly winds were going across many parts of Assam leading to significant increase in day and night temperatures. Day temperatures of most places were above normal by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius. Minimums are above normal by 6 to 8 degrees.
Low pressure area is moving over East Uttar Pradesh and Bihar and humid winds from Bay of Bengal will start feeding moisture over Northeast India including Assam. We expect moderate to heavy rains to commence over Western districts of Assam by October 18th. On October 19 and 20 many parts of Assam will start experiencing moderate to heavy showers which may continue until 21st of October.
Rain activities will start reducing significantly from night of October 21st. We do not expect any significant weather for subsequent one week or so.
