The state ofKarnatakawitnessed light to moderate rain and thundershower activities accompanied by strong winds during the last 24 hours. In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Saturday, Mysuru recorded 10 mm of rain, followed by Honnavar 3 mm, Kalburgi 2.3 mm and Karwar 0.3 mm.
Due to the prevalence of clouding and moist winds, day temperatures over parts ofKarnatakahave decreased significantly. Yesterday,Agumberecorded its maximum temperature at 36.5 degrees Celsius, followed by Bengaluru 30.7˚C, Karwar 34.5˚C andMangaluru34.7˚C.
At present, a cyclonic circulation is seen over North Interior Karnataka and adjoining parts ofTelangana. Along with this, a low-pressure area lies over Southeast Arabian Sea and adjoining parts of the Lakshadweep Islands. This system is likely to intensify into a well-marked low-pressure area during the next 12 to 18 hours.
Further, this same weather system would be intensifying more and moving towards north/northwest along theKarnataka Coast.Hence, rainfall activity will be increasing more along the coastal parts of Karnataka. Rest parts of the state will witness light rains with few moderate spells.
After 24 to 36 hours, rainfall activity will decrease over parts of North Interior Karnataka. Meanwhile, coastal parts of Karnataka will receive moderate to heavy rains during the next two to three days. Places likeMangaluru, Karwar,HonnavarandUdupimay receive these rains.
Weather inBengaluruwill remain mainly warm and moist during the day, but chances of light rain and thundershowers are likely in parts of the city during late afternoon or evening hours.
