After relishing back to back pre-Monsoon showers during the end of May, the weather of Kolkata became warm and dry. In fact, it has been two to three days that rains have abstained from pouring over the state capital.
However, now some rains are anticipated to reach and damp down the city during the next 24 to 48 hours. Meanwhile, Kolkata has already recorded 4 mm of rainfall.
As per Skymet Weather, a low pressure area is over Northwest Bay of Bengal off Odisha Coast. Due to this, moderate to heavy rainfall may occur over the region. These thundershowers may bless the city during the afternoon hours or evening after the formation of convective clouds over the city.
Along with the coastal belt of West and North Bengal, it is expected to receive scattered light to moderate rainfall and thundershower activities during the next 24 to 48 hours. Light rains are a possibility over Kolkata during the late afternoon hours today or tomorrow.
Since the span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday, Diamond Harbor recorded 8 mm of rainfall, Midnapore 6 mm, Bankura 3 mm, Canning and Bagati 2 mm while Burdwan recorded 1 mm of rainfall.

The intensity of these on and off showers are likely to increase over the region during the next 24 hours and the temperatures may drop significantly over Kolkata leading to a pleasant and comfortable weather conditions for the residents.
