The cyclonic circulation over Andhra Pradesh coast off west-central Bay of Bengal continues to persist. This system has given good Monsoon rains over parts of Telangana, including Hyderabad. Now this system is expected to move in a westerly direction. Moreover, a north-south trough is expected to develop and run from north Bihar up to Telangana.

Owing to this phenomenon, moderate to heavy Monsoon rains are expected to occur in Hyderabad and adjoining areas for next 48 hours as well. Also, the rain intensity is expected to increase.

During last 24 hours, the city has recorded 17.6 mm of Monsoon showers. In fact, flash flooding and water-logging is a possibility in some areas. Further, these rains will also disrupt the roads. Besides this, some areas of Vidarbha and Marathwada will also receive rainfall during next 48 hours.

Presently, Telangana is facing a rainfall deficiency of 8%. Good rainfall activity during next few days is likely to bring a marginal dip in this deficiency.

So far, in the month of August, Hyderabad has received 541.6 mm of rainfall against the monthly average of 586.1 mm of rain.
