Nainital recorded heavy rain to the tune of 109.5 mm in the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Sunday.
This was followed by Pantnagar with 55 mm of rain, Dharamshala 48.4 mm, Dehradun 32.2 mm, Almora 18.4 mm, Mukteshwar 16.4 mm, Manali 9.6 mm, Nahan 2.6 mm, Chamba 2 mm, Solan 1.4 mm, Shimla 1.1 mm, and Mussoire 8 mm.
Further, we expect these rains only to increase in the coming days. According to Skymet Weather, the axis of Monsoon trough has shifted north, along the foothills of Himalayas. Therefore, we expect moderate to heavy showers to lash the state of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand during next 24 hours. One or two extremely heavy spells are also possible over these states.
In subsequent 24 hours, rain intensity will once again increase over Jammu and Kashmir along with Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
In wake of some torrential rains last week, several water bodies in Jammu and Kashmir had surpassed the danger mark. With more rains in offing, flood threat looms large over the state. Moreover, landslide, mud slide and flash floods are also likely over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
However, after two days of some good Monsoon activities, intensity of rain will be seen decreasing. But on and off rains will continue, and weather will not become completely dry.
