Monsoon 2022 has been very generous for Gujarat until now. Saurashtra and Kutch are surpluses by 42% and Gujarat region by 27%. Rain average for Saurashtra and Kutch is less than Gujarat region despite this Saurashtra and Kutch have been receiving good rain activities until now.
Although some of the districts such as Sabarkantha, Banaskantha and Idar are still waiting for heavy showers. Now wait for these districts seems to be over. A low-pressure area is developing over Northwest and adjoining West Central way of Bengal. It will move in a westerly direction lashing central India. Rain activities will move from east to west right from Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh to Gujarat.
Initially Eastern parts of Gujarat will start receiving rain from August 7th. Rain will intensify over the Saurashtra region on August 9. And on August 10 and 11 there may be heavy to very heavy downpour over many parts of Gujarat including Saurashtra and Kutch leading to waterlogging and flash floods. The situation will start improving from August 11 onwards.
