Heavy rains to hit Manali, Dharamshala, Nainital, Mussoorie

The hills of Western India have been witnessing good rains since many days. The intensity of rain has increased over the past few days over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

As per Skymet weather, a fresh Western Disturbance which lies over Northern parts of Afghanistan and adjoining parts of North Pakistan region is moving east northeastwards and is likely to affect Jammu and Kashmir region within 24 hours.

In association with this system, the axis of Monsoon trough is also likely to shift at higher altitudes. Due to these combined weather systems moderate to heavy rains will occur over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand. Subsequently, the temperatures will reduce. Rain intensity will increase over Manali, Dharamshala, Mandi, Shimla, Nainital, Mussoorie and Srinagar.

HILLS

These heavy rains over the Western Himalayas are likely to continue for the next 36 to 48 hours. Thereafter the rain intensity may fall. In the past 24 hours from 8.30 am on Friday, Tehri received 25.3 mm of rain, Mussoorie 35 mm, Mandi 37 mm, Dharamshala 24 mm, Shimla 28 mm, Joshimath 10 mm, Pithoragarh 13.5 mm and Manali 5 mm.

These moderate to heavy intensity rains can be attributed the above-mentioned weather systems. Temperatures across the states are pleasant which have been attracting many tourists.
