Heavy rains to continue over Puri, Cuttack, Balasore, Bhubaneswar

The state of Odisha has been recording heavy rains for the past few days. The coastal areas in particular have been witnessing some intense spells of rain. Not only this, the last 24 hours were all the rainier for the entire state. In fact, very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall activity has been witnessed in many parts of Odisha during this time period.

In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday, Balasore recorded a whopping 151 mm of rainfall, followed by Chandbali at 120 mm. Other parts of Odisha to record heavy rains include Bhubaneswar 82 mm, Baripada 70 mm, Gopalpur 66 mm, Paradip 64 mm, Cuttack 60 mm, and Angul 25 mm.

These rains were attributed to the depression which is currently over Odisha region. This system is expected to move towards Northeast India and weaken into a well-marked low pressure area.

As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, heavy to very heavy rains will continue over North Odisha until today. By tomorrow, intensity will reduce significantly. However, scattered light rains may continue. Sea conditions over northern coast of Odisha will remain rough for another 24 hours. Thereafter, conditions will improve.

Cities including Balasore, Cuttack, Puri, Chandbali, Keonjhargarh, Baripada will witness heavy rains while rains will reduce over Kalingapatnam, Gopalpur, and Koraput.
