The Northeast Indian region is the one area which receives very good rains during both the Monsoon as well as the Pre-Monsoon period. Thus, we can say that many areas are witnessing good showers in Northeast India even now.

A cyclonic circulation has been persisting since last two to three days over Bihar and adjoining West Bengal. Along with this, a deep trough is also seen running from West Assam to Gangetic West Bengal. Due to these systems enough moisture is being fed over the northeastern states from Bay of Bengal.
Therefore, light to moderate rains with few heavy spells have already occurred over Manipur, Mizoram, Assam, Tripura and Meghalaya. Whereas, scattered rains were also observed over Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh.
In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Dibrugarh recorded heavy rainfall to the tune of 44.4 mm, Itanagar 3.3 mm, Pasighat 14.2 mm, Dhubri 6.4 mm, Goalpara 6.5 mm, Guwahati 8.1 mm, Silchar 25 mm, Tinsukia 51 mm, Imphal 1.5 mm, Cherrapunji 40.8 mm, Shillong 14.4 mm, Aizawl 17 mm, Lengpui 29.4 mm, Agartala 54 mm, Kailashahar 19 mm.
Now further, we expect on and off rains to continue over most parts of Northeast India in the coming days. Even though the intensity of rain is expected to increase, after next 48 hours, rain intensity will decrease over East Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland. Meanwhile, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura will continue receiving good rainfall activity.
Rain and thundershower activities at many places with isolated heavy may occur over Changlang, Dibang Valley, East Khameng, East Siang, Kurung Kumey, Lohit, Longding, Lower Dibang Valley, Lower Subansiri, Papum Pare, Tirap, Upper Siang, Upper Subansiri, West Kameng, West Siang, Baksa, Barpeta, Bongaigaon, Cachar, Chirang, Darrang, Dhemaji, Dhuburi, Dibrugarh, Goalpara, Golaghat, Hailakandi, Jorhat, Kamrup, Kamrup Metro, Karbi Anglong, Karimganj, Kokrajhar, Lakhimpur, Marigaon, Nagaon, Nalbari, North Cachar Hills, Sibsagar, Sonitpur, Tinsukia, Udalguri, Bishnupur, Churachandpur, East Imphal, Imphal West, Senapati, Tamenglong, Thoubal, East Garo Hills, East Jaintia Hills, East Khasi Hills, Jaintia Hills, North Garo hills, RI-Bhoi, South Garo Hills, South West Garo Hills, South West Khasi Hills, West Garo Hills, West Khasi Hills, Aizawl, Champhai, Kolasib, Lunglei, Mamit, Serchhip, Dimapur, Kohima, Longleng, Mokokchung, Mon, Peren, Phek, Tuensang, Wokha, Zunheboto, Dhalai, Gomati, North Tripura and South Tripura districts of Northeastern States up to May 3 associated with hailstorm and thunder squall at few parts.
