The hills of North India are not influenced largely by the Monsoon systems by itself which travel across Central and North India. The system always gets some kind of enhancement in the association of the Western Disturbance which not only pulls the Monsoon trough but also intensifies and slowdowns the system over Central and North India.

Presently, a Western Disturbance is seen over the Western Himalayan region over Jammu and Kashmir and adjoining areas. Along with this, a low-pressure area also persists over South Uttar Pradesh. Due to this, moderate to heavy rains have already occurred over the regions of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. In fact, three-digit rains have also been witnessed over some parts.

During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Wednesday, Mussoorie recorded a whopping 175 mm of rains followed by Dharamsala at 134 mm and Nainital saw 103 mm. Other parts that saw some rains include Manali 31 mm, Dehradun 8 mm, Una 4 mm, Mandi 2 mm, Bhuntar 2 mm, and Tehri 1 mm.
