The state of Gujarat has seen some good rains and is likely to see a prolonged spell of heavy rains.
At the moment, the system which had been giving rains has moved away from the state and is over parts of Pakistan and adjoining Northeast Arabian Sea. However, the trough is still continuing from this system. There is another Circulation which is over Odisha and adjoining Bay of Bengal region. The trough joining these two systems east to west is running through Gujarat and has small vortices as well embedded over the trough.
Today, rains will be seen over entire state and will be moderate in intensity, with isolated heavy spells in between. Between July 8 and 10, most of the time, the southern parts of Gujarat and Saurashtra will see rains including the cities of Surat, Valsad, Vapi, Vadodara and even Ahmedabad.
Around July 12, rains will reduce but again the next spell will come again around July 13, lasting up to July 15. In between, even Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar will see some good rains, heavy showers may also be seen.
