July 5, 2024 1:26 PM |

Active monsoon conditions are likely over East Rajasthan, North Madhya Pradesh, South Haryana, South Punjab over the next three days, albeit in a staggered manner. Seasonal monsoon trough is active and runs across North Rajasthan, Delhi, Southwest Uttar Pradesh, and thence eastward. An active cyclonic circulation is marked over North Pakistan and adjacent border areas of Punjab.  Another circulation is marked over Northeast Rajasthan. Both these features are connected through the monsoon trough, an elongated feature running across, from Rajasthan to West Bengal.

The cyclonic circulations are likely to persist with small north-south oscillation. Monsoon trough also will meander over same area for the next 2-3 days.  There is another cyclonic circulation over Southeast Pakistan and adjoining Southwest Rajasthan region. This system is supporting the east-west trough by fueling moisture with the southwesterly flow from Arabian Sea, across Gujarat and South Rajasthan.

Heavy to very heavy rains are likely today over East Rajasthan and North Madhya Pradesh.  Pockets at risk of deluge will include capital city Jaipur, Ajmer, Alwar, Dholpur, Bharatpur, Swai Madhopur, Sikar, Tonk and Dausa. Chambal area of Madhya Pradesh will also witness heavy rains. Gwalior, Guna, Ashoknagar, Shivpuri and neighbouring parts are likely to have intense weather activity today. The intense rainfall belt will shift to parts of South Haryana and Majha and Doaba area of Punjab, tomorrow. The rains may ease out a little, a day later. However, isolated heavy rainfall will be likely over these pockets on Sunday, 07thJuly. The extreme rainfall activity will shift to parts of West Uttar Pradesh and Uttrakhand. Better weather conditions will prevail over most parts of Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan between 07th and 09thJuly 2024.
