The upper half of the West Coast has been seeing active to vigorous Monsoon conditions. Moreover, during the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Tuesday, Alibag recorded 117 mm of rains, Colaba 98 mm, Thane 75 mm, Harnai 92 mm, Santa Cruz 53 mm, Ratnagiri 35 mm, Valsad 58 mm, and Diu 43 mm.
Now also, both the Konkan region as well as Coastal Gujarat is expected to see heavy rainfall activities. Cities of Mumbai, Alibag, Ratnagiri, Dahanu. Vapi, Valsad, Navsari, Surat, Bharuch etc. will be the ones seeing intense rains. Parts of Veraval and adjoining areas will also see heavy showers.
The reason for such rains is attributed to the Cyclonic Circulation over Gulf of Cambay and adjoining areas. There is also a convergence zone in association with the system in Central parts. The Off shore trough is an additional trigger.
