Heavy rains over Coastal Karnataka and Kerala during next 48 hours

Since the beginning of Monsoon, Kerala and Karnataka have been receiving good rainfall activity. That’s why rainfall over entire Karnataka and Kerala at present is excessive.

Karnataka is surplus by 50 %, whereas Kerala is surplus by 31 %, as on June 18. In fact, Kerala, has witnessed extremely heavy showers leading to flooding in many districts which lead to more than 50 deaths.

In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Agumbe 116.2 mm of rain, followed by Karwar 90.8 mm, Honnavar 52.6 mm, Kannur 21.6 mm, Mangaluru 14.7 mm, Kochi 11.4 mm, Kozhikode 11.1 mm, Thiruvananthapuram 8 mm, Ballari 2 mm, Belagavi 2.3 mm, Bengaluru 0.2 mm, Gadag 1.2 mm, Hassam 8.2 mm.

Now as the off-shore trough has once again become active over Kerala and Karnataka Coast, we expect intensity of rains to increase once again over these states.

During the next 48 hours, we expect moderate to heavy rains over coastal districts of Karnataka and kerala. One or two places may also receive extremely heavy rains.

Light to moderate rains will occur over North Interior Karnataka. But intensity will be less over South Interior Karnataka. Udupi and Mangalore may receive extremely heavy rains on June 20.

Weather will become comfortable. Night will be cool and pleasant over interior districts of Karnataka and comfortable coastal parts of Karnataka.
